Continuity of service with MCB

Safety measures to guard against nuisance tripping

Nuisance tripping can be generated by:

  • the inrush current at circuit closure,

  • the overload current during the lamp preheating phase,

  • and sometimes the harmonic current flowing through the neutral of three-phase circuits.

MethodThree solutions

Choose a circuit breaker with a less sensitive curve: change from curve B to curve C or from curve C to curve D.

  • Reduce the number of lamps per circuit.

  • Start up the circuits successively, using time delay auxiliaries on the control relays.

Warning

Under no circumstances may the circuit breaker rating be increased, as the electrical conductors would then no longer be protected.
